With summer just around the corner, here are the best new movies released on digital platforms this summer:TheatersActorsMaggie Gyllenhaal, Dede Gardner, Jessica Biel, Jessica Chastain, and Sarah Jessica Parker return to theaters on May 19, with the release of the film version of “Gone Girl,” starring Jessica Chaswick, Tom Hardy, and Emma Stone.
It’s also the first in a trilogy of films based on the hit comic book franchise.
Director: Alex KurtzmanWritten by: Alex, Alex Kurtz, and Jason Momoa, “Gole Girl” will follow a group of orphans and their adopted sister, played by Jessica Chassen.
The film follows them as they navigate the world of the supernatural, as they attempt to navigate their growing friendship with an eccentric and seemingly powerful girl who could be their father.
The movie’s director Alex Kurtman, a veteran filmmaker whose credits include “The Matrix,” “Fantastic Four,” and “X-Men,” has a new film coming out on Blu, as well.
“Greed,” from “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
2,” will debut on June 14.
It will follow the group of young people, who find themselves in the middle of a war against the villainous Thanos.
The movie’s writer/director Chris McKay and producer/director Josh Trank have previously written “Gotham” and “Superman Returns.”
In the meantime, the latest movie from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “The Avengers: Age of Ultron,” is set to open in theaters on April 12, 2018.
“It’s an epic journey of heroes, villains, and one woman who must decide if her future is truly worth saving,” says the film’s director Joss Whedon.
“She will be faced with the same choices that have always been faced by her: will she fight for what is right, or for what she believes in?
This is the film that brings her to the front lines, and the story that will ultimately determine whether she will save her world or not.”
The films release date is expected to coincide with the Avengers: Infinity War movie, which will see Marvel’s Avengers unite for the first time in three decades in May 2019.
“It is a massive undertaking for us, so we have been hard at work getting the footage and the actors into the theater,” said Paul Dergarabedian, vice president, Marvel Studios, in a statement.
“We are looking forward to seeing fans in theaters around the world and hearing their reaction.”
Marvel also announced a slate of three movies on Blu and DVD from 2018, including “Iron Man 3,” “Captain America: Civil War,” and the next installment of the Avengers franchise.
“The Avengers” stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Elizabeth Olsen.
